Axpo and Fortia Energía have announced the signing of a second Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), aimed at supplying Votorantim Cimentos with electricity produced from wind sources. This contract strengthens the strategic partnership between the three parties, providing an additional energy volume of 26.28 GWh per year for a duration of ten years, which began at the beginning of this October.

Expanding the strategic partnership

This agreement complements the first contract that began in April 2026, which also included 26.28 GWh per year for five years. Through this expansion, the companies aim to provide customized energy solutions that meet Votorantim's industrial consumption needs, with a focus on enhancing energy cost stability and supporting the sustainability of production operations. Under the new arrangements, Fortia acts as a buyer of energy from Axpo, reselling and utilizing it to serve Votorantim's operational requirements.

Supporting decarbonization goals

Ignacio Soniere, CEO of Axpo Iberia, confirmed that this step reflects the company's commitment to providing renewable energy solutions that contribute to enhancing industry competitiveness and supporting the path to decarbonization. For his part, José Miguel Moreno, General Manager of Fortia Energía, pointed to the importance of PPAs as effective tools for achieving economic stability for major industrial companies.

For her part, Carmen Bolie, Director of Sustainability and Strategy at Votorantim Cimentos, explained that the agreement represents a strong push for the company's roadmap towards energy transition, as it aims to reach 50% of electricity consumption through clean energy sources by 2030. The company is adopting a comprehensive strategy that includes energy efficiency, the use of alternative fuels, the development of products with a low carbon footprint, and reliance on carbon capture technologies.
