The Mediterranean Offshore Conference and Exhibition (MOC 2026) concluded its activities, with the final recommendations focusing on the necessity of accelerating research and exploration activities and developing new discoveries to link them to production as quickly as possible, which contributes to enhancing energy supplies and achieving the desired economic returns from investments.
Enhancing Production and Attracting Global Investments
Participants in the conference emphasized the importance of maximizing the utilization of existing fields, especially mature fields, by applying modern technologies, improving reservoir management, and raising well efficiency. The recommendations also called for developing the investment framework and updating contractual models to enhance the competitiveness of available opportunities, which encourages global companies to pump new investments and consolidate confidence with partners by presenting a clear vision for projects and adhering to contractual frameworks.
Egypt as a Regional Energy Trading Hub
The conference highlighted Egypt's vital role as a regional hub for energy trade and commerce, emphasizing the importance of utilizing available infrastructure to receive, process, and liquefy natural gas. This vision aims to link East Mediterranean resources with regional and international markets, and to enhance integration between exploration and production activities and liquefaction and trading operations to support energy security in the region.
Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence in Industry
The conference recommended expanding the use of artificial intelligence applications and advanced analytics in exploration operations, reservoir evaluation, and improving operational planning. It also stressed the necessity of developing data management systems, raising their quality, and using digital modeling to reduce exploration risks, while paying attention to enhancing cybersecurity and protecting vital systems in the energy sector.
Sustainability and Qualifying Young Cadres
Discussions focused on the importance of reducing operating costs and adhering to safety and environmental protection standards through solutions that reduce emissions. In a related context, it was emphasized that university education must be linked to labor market needs and curricula developed to keep pace with technological developments, with a call to enhance cooperation between the Ministry of Petroleum and universities to ensure the preparation of a generation of energy leaders capable of dealing with future technologies.
