The Mediterranean Offshore Conference and Exhibition (MOC 2026) concluded its events, featuring an extensive discussion platform that brought together energy industry leaders and experts from around the world. The conference events, held under the theme 'Egypt: A Key Pillar for Energy Security in the Mediterranean Region', focused on reviewing investment opportunities and discussing the technological developments necessary to address current challenges in the oil and gas sector.

Strategies for Increasing Production and Developing Discoveries

Discussions at the conference concluded on the necessity of accelerating research and exploration processes and developing new discoveries to connect them to production in the shortest possible time, which contributes to enhancing energy supplies and achieving rapid economic returns. The recommendations also focused on the importance of maximizing the utilization of existing fields, especially mature fields, by applying modern technologies to improve reservoir management and raise the efficiency of production operations, while expanding the use of advanced seismic survey technologies and developing drilling methods to reduce risks.

Attracting Investments and Enhancing Global Partnerships

Participants stressed the importance of developing the investment climate by updating contractual and economic models to increase competitiveness and attract international capital. The proposed visions emphasized the need to consolidate trust with investment partners through commitment to contractual frameworks and providing a clear vision for projects. The pivotal role of Egypt as a regional hub for energy trading was also emphasized, through the optimal utilization of infrastructure designated for receiving, transporting, processing, and liquefying natural gas, and connecting Eastern Mediterranean resources to global markets.

Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence in the Energy Sector

Technology emerged as a key element in the conference recommendations, where the necessity of employing artificial intelligence applications and advanced analytics in exploration and reservoir assessment processes was emphasized. The conference also called for the development of data management and governance systems, and the use of digital solutions in risk management and operational efficiency improvement, while enhancing cybersecurity to protect vital systems, ensuring maximum benefit from technological development in reducing costs and improving performance.

Investing in Human Capital and the New Generation

The conference paid special attention to empowering youth and developing education to align with the future requirements of the energy industry. The sessions discussed ways to link university curricula with the actual needs of the labor market, with a proposal to form working groups comprising students, the ministry, and companies to bridge skill gaps. The importance of providing practical training opportunities and developing youth skills in the fields of digital transformation and artificial intelligence was also emphasized, to ensure the preparation of cadres capable of leading the energy sector in the future.
