A large number of citizens are looking for ways to recharge their prepaid electricity cards from home using their mobile phones; to save time and avoid going to charging points, especially with the availability of a number of electronic applications that help add balance to the card without the need to leave home, provided that the card and meter type are compatible with the electronic charging service.
The process of charging the electricity card via mobile phone depends on the availability of the Near Field Communication (NFC) feature in both the phone and the card used, as this technology allows reading the card data and registering the new balance on it before transferring it to the electricity meter by inserting the card into its designated slot.
Electronic applications for charging electricity cards
There are applications that citizens can use to charge the electricity card electronically according to the card type and its compatibility with the available service, including the Sahel application, which allows for a number of electronic payment operations, in addition to the My Fawry application and the Electricity Khales application, where these applications can be used to charge electricity cards if the card and meter type support the service available through them.
Steps to charge the electricity card via phone
Citizens can charge their prepaid electricity card using their mobile phone by first ensuring that the phone supports the NFC feature and then activating it from the device settings. After that, download the appropriate charging application and ensure that it supports the type of electricity card used, then open the application and select the electricity card charging service.
The following steps include placing the card on the back of the phone in the designated position for reading and waiting until the card data appears on the screen, then selecting the required charging value and choosing the available payment method within the application and completing the payment process and following the instructions for recording the balance on the card.
After ensuring that the charging process is successful and a confirmation message appears within the application while keeping the card near the phone for the entire duration required for the balance recording process, the card is inserted into the electricity meter to transfer the new balance to it, in accordance with the operating instructions of the meter used.
In the event that the phone does not support NFC technology, or the card is not compatible with it, the citizen can go to authorized charging points or the service centers of the electricity distribution company to which they belong. To ensure the success of the process, one must ensure that the card is compatible with the application before payment and not move the card away from the phone while recording the balance.
