US Secretary of Energy, Chris Wright, confirmed that the United States has not eased any sanctions imposed on the Russian oil sector, stressing that Washington has eased "zero sanctions" in this dossier.
The Energy Secretary's statements came in a press interview, commenting on a document previously issued via the White House website stating that the US administration refrained from applying certain sanctions measures against Russia linked to Congressional legislation.
The US Congress had passed legislation on September 16, which includes imposing a 100 percent tariff on major buyers of Russian oil and gas, as well as countries that help Moscow circumvent sanctions, in addition to imposing tariffs of up to 500 percent on other Russian goods.
