Hyundai Engineering & Construction announced the expansion of its strategic partnership in Australia to include power grid connection projects, battery energy storage, and data centers, in a move that strengthens its presence in the renewable energy infrastructure market in the Asia-Pacific region.

Lee Han-woo, CEO of Hyundai Engineering & Construction, signed a strategic memorandum of understanding in Melbourne, Australia, with representatives from Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), which is considered one of the world's largest investors and managers of green energy assets, and consistently invests in wind, solar energy, energy storage, green hydrogen, and carbon capture in more than thirty countries.

Developing energy grids and data centers

Following this, the company signed a cooperation agreement with AusNet, the largest energy grid company in the Australian state of Victoria, which manages electricity and gas distribution networks and the transmission grid across the state. Under this agreement, both parties will work together not only on ongoing electricity infrastructure projects but also in areas of grid connection such as battery energy storage systems and data centers, which increase the flexibility, stability, and usage of renewable energy.

The two sides also agreed to strengthen technical cooperation in engineering, procurement, construction, operations, and management through the exchange of human resources and by building a long-term partnership. These developments come within the framework of Hyundai's efforts to strengthen its presence in Australia since the establishment of its Sydney branch, coinciding with the rapid growth of the energy infrastructure sector driven by increased electricity consumption as a result of the expansion of data centers and the transition towards renewable energy.
