French President Emmanuel Macron is heading on an official tour of the Gulf region, with the aim of securing reliable fuel and gas supplies for his country, amid economic challenges and widespread protests in French streets due to the high cost of living and rising energy prices. These intensive diplomatic moves come at a time when the French market is suffering from unprecedented pressures related to fuel prices and their availability for citizens.

Government efforts to confront the fuel price crisis

The French President delivered a televised address in which he addressed the overwhelming public concerns regarding fuel prices, confirming his full understanding of the citizens' anxiety regarding the continuous rise in living costs. He explained that the government and the relevant ministers continue to work by making decisions in cooperation with fuel distributors, to ensure that government efforts are reflected in prices and to alleviate the burdens on the purchasing power of families who are directly affected by the fluctuations of global energy markets.

Securing energy supplies through diplomacy

Macron pointed out that he has launched several initiatives at the international level to ensure the stability of fuel and gas supplies and effective intervention in energy markets. These moves come as a continuation of intensive diplomatic efforts that include a planned visit to a number of Gulf countries, including Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Qatar, to enhance cooperation and secure vital supply chains for the French economy.

Repercussions of regional conflicts on energy markets

These developments come in light of record levels for fuel prices, where the price of a liter of diesel exceeded the barrier of 2.36 euros, in addition to recording a shortage of fuel stocks in hundreds of service stations across the country. The French President attributed these sharp increases in energy prices to the repercussions of the ongoing conflicts in the Arabian Gulf region which cast their shadows on global energy markets, confirming the authorities' endeavor by all available means to overcome this crisis and ensure the continuity of basic services.
