The city of Baltimore in the United States witnessed a tragic mass shooting late Sunday night, targeting a gas station located in the southwestern section of the city, resulting in the death of two people and varying injuries to three others.

Security Incident Details

The incident occurred at exactly 10:25 PM in the 2800 block of Edmondson Avenue. Official reports indicate that four of the victims were found at the scene, while the fifth victim managed to drive his own vehicle to the hospital to receive treatment. A woman and a 20-year-old man succumbed to their injuries, while the condition of the other three injured was described as non-life-threatening.

Police Investigations and Officials' Statements

Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley confirmed that preliminary investigations indicate the involvement of two, and possibly three, individuals in carrying out this attack. Worley explained that a high-powered automatic weapon was used in committing this crime, expressing his growing concern over the proliferation of such lethal weapons that cause heavy casualties in frequent mass shootings in the area.

A Wave of Gun Violence

This incident comes as the fifth mass shooting to hit the city of Baltimore over the past five weeks, raising serious questions about the security situation and the increasing proliferation of weapons on the streets. The city has witnessed a series of bloody incidents in various areas, including shootings near residential complexes and sports fields, resulting in a number of victims of various ages, including children and teenagers.

Police officials pledged to step up their efforts to search for suspects in these cases and bring them to justice, emphasizing that security authorities are working continuously to confiscate illegal firearms, yet the challenge remains great in light of the recurrence of these crimes that plague the local community and place additional pressure on security agencies to protect citizens and prevent further casualties in the future.
