Official data released by the State Customs Committee in Azerbaijan has revealed the country's crude oil export volumes during the first nine months of the year, with Italy topping the list of major importers of Azerbaijani oil amidst active movement in global energy markets and supply flows toward European and Asian nations.

The data indicated that during this period, Azerbaijan exported about 14.18 million tons of crude oil to the top ten countries on the list of importers. Italy maintained the first position as the largest importer of Azerbaijani oil with quantities reaching about 8.88 million tons valued at more than 5.51 billion dollars, followed by the Czech Republic in second place with about 1.32 million tons valued at more than 908 million dollars, and then Romania in third place with about 1.01 million tons valued at more than 644 million dollars.

Distribution of Import Markets and Oil Trade Movement

The list of the top ten countries importing Azerbaijani crude oil included other global markets such as India, Germany, Tunisia, Bulgaria, Indonesia, Portugal, and Switzerland, where the quantities and exchanged financial values showed a notable variance compared to the same period of the previous year. These figures reflect the scale of economic and trade cooperation between Azerbaijan and its international partners in the energy sector, especially in light of the efforts of importing countries to secure their oil needs and ensure the stability of supply chains.

Crude oil exports play a major role in supporting the Azerbaijani economy, financing development projects, and enhancing the state's role as a major contributor to regional and global energy security. Competent authorities continue to monitor trade performance indicators and the volume of shipments exported via pipelines and seaports to ensure the smooth flow of supplies according to contracts concluded with international trade partners.
