The government has announced the details of the second phase of its national electrification plan, which includes a package of measures aimed at reducing reliance on imported fossil fuels, limiting carbon emissions, and helping households manage energy expenses more efficiently. This step comes as part of the country's efforts to strengthen its energy and industrial sovereignty in light of global geopolitical fluctuations that affect energy markets and prices.
Grant for Transitioning from Gas to Electricity
The new phase includes allocating a financial grant of one thousand euros for households that use gas heating and wish to switch to electric heating systems. This support is not available to all residents, but is limited to specific areas within regional electrification plans aimed at accelerating the replacement of oil, gas, and fossil fuels with low-emission electric energy. This support is scheduled to become available gradually in thousands of rural-themed municipalities that include millions of residents as soon as the identification of gas-exit zones is completed.
Additional Support for Fuel Heating Users
In addition to the support allocated for gas, the authorities have allocated an additional financial package to support households that rely on liquid fuel heating in the same targeted areas. This funding aims to protect consumers from sharp increases in fuel prices, and includes multiple options such as providing loans for installing electric radiators, assistance in removing old fuel tanks, or offering incentive packages on the condition of installing heat pumps. These measures reflect the government's commitment to accelerating the energy transition and protecting the purchasing power of citizens in the face of international energy market fluctuations.
