The electricity sector services in Egypt are witnessing important digital developments aimed at regularizing the conditions for connecting electricity to citizens, as part of the plan of the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy to generalize dealing according to official procedures. These moves come in conjunction with the reactivation of the unified platform for electricity services, which allows subscribers to complete transactions electronically with ease, ensuring data accuracy and rapid completion of requests.

Achieving the conversion of 1.35 million meters

Dr. Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, announced the ministry's success in converting 1.35 million coded electricity meters into legal meters over the past week. This step comes following the completion of reconciliation procedures for electricity connection violations, as the ministry aims to integrate these meters into the official legal system, paving the way for applying the approved household consumption bracket system to all subscribers after meeting all necessary technical and legal requirements.

The conversion mechanism via the unified platform

Citizens wishing to regularize their status can follow specific steps via the unified platform for electricity services. The process begins by logging in via the customer account, then selecting the service of converting the coded meter to a legal meter from the list of available services. The applicant must accurately register the meter data, upload the required documents in a clear format electronically, while keeping the request number to periodically follow up on the review status.

Required documents to complete the contract

The conversion to the legal system requires providing a package of documents that prove the citizen's seriousness and regularize the property's status, including a valid national ID card, documents proving ownership or possession of the residential unit, in addition to proof of reconciliation for property violations. The competent electricity distribution companies review these papers and verify compliance with technical requirements before completing the official contracting procedures, allowing the subscriber to fully benefit from all services and deal according to the applicable household consumption brackets.
