Acciona Energía has announced the actual start of commercial operation for two new wind power plants in Croatia, a move that reinforces the company's strategy to expand in the renewable energy sector at the European level. This achievement comes after completing all operational and technical processes necessary for the two plants, named Opor and Boraja II, to become part of the country's electricity grid.
Boosting renewable energy production capacity
The combined production capacity of the two plants reaches 72 MW, which is sufficient energy to support the local energy mix and contribute to meeting the growing demand for electricity from clean sources. These projects are a vital part of the company's ongoing efforts to increase reliance on natural resources for power generation, as modern wind turbines contribute to reducing carbon emissions and dependence on fossil fuels, thereby enhancing the sustainability of the energy sector in the region.
Strategic expansion in European markets
This step reflects Acciona Energía's commitment to developing a robust green energy infrastructure, with a focus on applying the latest technologies in drilling, construction, and operation to ensure high efficiency in converting wind energy into continuous electrical power. The plants have been designed according to international standards that ensure long-term production continuity, supporting Croatia's national goals of achieving carbon neutrality and increasing the share of clean energy in the national energy mix.
The entry of the Opor and Boraja II plants into commercial service marks a milestone in the company's history within Croatia, solidifying its position as a leading global developer in sustainable energy projects. These plants are expected to play a pivotal role in supporting the stability of the national grid and providing clean, reliable energy to consumers, in line with global shifts toward a green economy.
