The Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources has announced the start date for the "YEKA RES-2026" tenders designated for wind energy projects, as part of the state's efforts to enhance its renewable energy capabilities. Competition for 7 vital projects is scheduled to begin on November 2, 2026, to allocate a total connection capacity of 1500 megawatts.
Capacity Details and Project Distribution
The connection capacities for the seven projects are distributed across several strategic regions in Turkey; the Sivas province holds the largest share with 320 megawatts, followed by Kütahya province with 260 megawatts, and the Manisa region with 235 megawatts. The list also includes four projects in Balıkesir province with varying capacities ranging from 140 to 235 megawatts. This geographical distribution comes within the ministry's strategy to diversify clean energy sources and support the stability of the national electrical grid through sustainable projects.
Competitiveness of Participating Companies
The tender witnessed notable interest from major energy companies, with 12 companies qualifying to participate in this process, submitting a total of 29 applications for the seven proposed projects. Notable names in the list of qualified companies include "Limak Renewable Energy," "Metgün Energy Investments," and "Exim Energy," in addition to "Empa" and "RHG Enertürk." "Metgün" is the most prominent, having submitted applications to compete for five of the seven announced projects, reflecting the private sector's interest in expanding its investments in the Turkish wind energy sector.
Implementation Procedures and Technical Requirements
The tenders are scheduled to be held at the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources headquarters in the capital, amidst strict regulatory requirements that ensure the transparency of the process. The ministry emphasized the need for authorized representatives of the qualified companies to attend, while also requiring all necessary legal documents, including trade records, certificates of authorization, and official company seals. These measures aim to ensure that participating companies adhere to the technical and financial standards set by the Turkish government to maximize the benefits of available connection capacities and develop the country's clean energy infrastructure.
