Growing demands for cooling systems in data centers and high-tech factories pose a new energy challenge for companies, highlighting the urgent need to control electricity consumption and ensure the efficiency and stability of operational systems.

Global Energy Consumption Growth Due to Cooling

The cooling infrastructure sector is experiencing rapid growth driven by the evolution of data centers, artificial intelligence, and the semiconductor industry. International data indicates that the global demand for electricity for space cooling has risen by about 50 percent compared to 2015, reaching approximately 2,900 terawatt-hours, which exceeds the total electricity consumption of the entire European Union. Currently, cooling represents about 10 percent of global annual electricity consumption and may contribute up to 30 percent during peak electrical load times.

Increasing Pressure on Data Centers

This pressure is clearly evident in global data centers, which consume large amounts of energy, a significant portion of which goes specifically toward cooling and environmental control purposes. Estimates indicate that the proportion of energy allocated to cooling ranges from 25 percent to 40 percent of total data center energy, while this ratio decreases to about 7 percent in ultra-efficient data centers, and rises to over 30 percent in traditional centers, highlighting the importance of intelligent infrastructure design and management.

Integrated Solutions for Energy and Cooling Management

In light of these challenges, discussions have emerged regarding the importance of integrating heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems with automation platforms and artificial intelligence. Modern solutions rely on connecting field devices such as sensors, converters, and motors to central management systems and digital platforms to collect and analyze data in real-time, helping companies improve energy efficiency, reduce waste, and make cooling systems a key part of the strategy for sustainable energy management and operational efficiency improvement.
