The global oil market is witnessing increasing attention in light of geopolitical developments in the Middle East, which have pushed prices to high levels exceeding one hundred dollars per barrel, affecting the economies of oil-producing countries in Latin America that play a prominent role in global energy supplies and meeting the growing demand in international markets.

Brazil and Mexico at the forefront of regional production

Brazil leads the list of the largest oil-producing economies in Latin America, recording high production levels reaching millions of barrels per day, marking significant growth compared to previous years. Conversely, Mexico, which is the second-largest economy in the region, is witnessing a downward trend in the volume of its oil production compared to the past decade. Venezuela stands out as one of the key countries despite the challenges that have faced its hydrocarbon sector, as it maintains its position as the country possessing the largest proven oil reserves in the world according to international data.

Argentina, Colombia, and Ecuador amid production shifts

Argentina occupies an advanced position thanks to the significant boom in its energy sector supported by the successes of the Vaca Muerta field, and production is expected to continue rising to boost the export sector. Conversely, countries like Colombia and Ecuador are facing a phase of gradual decline in daily production rates compared to their previous levels several years ago.

Map of major oil producers around the world

Globally, the United States of America leads the list of the largest oil-producing countries in terms of daily barrel volume, followed by Russia, Saudi Arabia, Canada, Brazil, China, Iraq, and the United Arab Emirates. Subsequent positions are distributed among countries such as Iran, Kuwait, Nigeria, Egypt, the United Kingdom, down to countries with lower production, in a scene that reflects the complex map of global energy supplies and the distribution of oil wealth.
