Brent crude futures prices fell during today's market trading, influenced by the ongoing uncertainty in global energy markets as a result of rising tensions in the Middle East region, despite prices recording high levels that exceeded the $110 mark during the session.

The price of a barrel of Brent crude for December delivery recorded a decline of 0.28 percent, closing at $109.55 in the London futures market. This decline came after the benchmark crude in Europe managed to cross the $110 per barrel barrier during various stages of trading, before losing about $0.31 compared to the previous closing price, which recorded $109.86 per barrel.

Navigation developments in the Strait of Hormuz

In a related context regarding regional security and global oil supplies, Iranian military authorities represented by the Revolutionary Guard reported a new incident involving an explosion and fire that targeted an oil tanker after it struck a sea mine in the southern part of the Strait of Hormuz. This incident further complicates the navigation scene following previous announcements of similar accidents involving other supertankers in this vital energy transport region.

Iranian forces reiterated their position regarding the closure of the strait, with threats to take action against ships that fail to adhere to the announced navigation rules. Conversely, international parties, led by the United States of America, are seeking ways to restore maritime traffic and ensure the smooth flow of oil tankers through routes near the Sultanate of Oman amidst increasing concerns over supply security.
