Global markets witnessed widespread reactions following US President Donald Trump's announcement to suspend the imposition of further sanctions and tariffs on Russia and its energy trade, which was directly reflected in financial markets and commodity prices. This decision alleviated market concerns regarding a decline in Russian crude oil supplies, leading to a notable drop in global oil prices, amid ongoing anticipation of geopolitical developments in the Middle East, which continues to maintain relatively high price levels.

Oil price drop and market stability

Global oil prices recorded clear declines in trading, with West Texas Intermediate falling by nearly 0.7 percent to reach about $98.4 a barrel, while Brent crude fell by about 1.2 percent, recording around $108.6 a barrel. In contrast, gold prices witnessed a slight increase supported by lower US Treasury bond yields, while digital currencies, specifically Bitcoin, stabilized near high levels, amid a general uprising of technology and artificial intelligence sector stocks that received additional support from falling yields and stabilized investor sentiment.

Stock performance and global economic developments

Shares of technology companies and companies related to artificial intelligence infrastructure such as Intel, Nvidia, SanDisk, and Micron recorded a noticeable recovery in early trading, supported by a reassessment of risks and new liquidity flows. On the macroeconomic front, official data released from China showed third-quarter GDP growth of 4.5 percent year-on-year, exceeding expectations, despite ongoing challenges related to the real estate sector and weak domestic demand. In Europe, France witnessed widespread protests against the backdrop of living costs and educational conditions, accompanied by widespread arrests and official condemnations of the associated violence.
