"Europa Oil & Gas" announced that it has obtained a 12-month extension for the first exploration period in the "EG-08" block license located in deep water off the coast of Equatorial Guinea. Under this decision, the deadline for this period has been moved from October 4, 2026, to October 4, 2027, giving the company and its partners additional room to move forward with exploration plans and strategic operations development in the region.

Strategic Partnership Details and Regulatory Challenges

This extension comes to support the completion of the farm-out deal with "Fuhai" Energy, a subsidiary of the Fuhai New Energy Group. The deal aims to bring a change to the project's ownership structure; where the share of "Antler Global", associated with "Europa Oil & Gas", in the block will decrease from 80% to 40%, while "Fuhai" will acquire an equivalent share of 40%, with the national oil company "GEPetrol" retaining the remaining 20% as a state share.

The deal is currently facing procedural delays resulting from the requirements to obtain foreign direct investment approval from the Development and Reform Commission in Beijing. New Chinese regulations that came into effect on July 1, 2026, have extended the approval timeline, though the company noted the continued support of Chinese authorities for Fuhai's application.

Drilling Plans and Production Future

Despite regulatory challenges, "Europa Oil & Gas" continues its preparations to drill the "Barracuda-1" exploration well, with operations expected to begin in the first half of 2027. This block is considered a promising asset, as internal estimates indicate that it contains potential gas resources estimated at about 2.2 trillion cubic feet, including 878 billion cubic feet in the "Barracuda" area alone. The Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Mining Development in Equatorial Guinea confirmed that the company has fulfilled all required work obligations until October 2026, ensuring that all contractor rights remain valid throughout the extension period.
