Oil production in the Gabar field in Turkey's Şırnak province has witnessed significant growth, with the daily production rate reaching 84,000 barrels, amidst intensive efforts to increase these rates to exceed the 100,000 barrels per day mark. These developments come at a time when Turkey continues to strengthen its capabilities in the domestic energy sector and expand exploration and extraction operations in the region.

Positive indicators in the Gabar field

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, announced the existence of strong and promising indicators regarding new oil discoveries in the western part of the Gabar field. Bayraktar confirmed that operations are moving in a very positive direction, stressing that technical teams are continuing to conduct the necessary assessments to verify the volume of reserves before announcing the final figures, in order to ensure accuracy in evaluating the newly discovered resources.

Strategy to increase production capacity

The Turkish Ministry of Energy considers the Gabar field as one of the main strategic hubs on the domestic oil production map. In this regard, Bayraktar pointed out that current efforts are not limited to investing in the discovered reserves but extend to include intensifying the search for new sources in surrounding areas. These activities contribute to enhancing national energy security and reducing dependence on external sources by exploiting promising oil potential in southeastern Turkey.

There is anticipation for the announcement of promising results in the coming period, coinciding with the completion of technical analyses that will accurately determine the volume of extractable resources. These steps are part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at maximizing the benefit from national resources, boosting production in existing fields, and expanding the circle of future discoveries, which reflects the state's commitment to developing the energy sector as a fundamental pillar for supporting the national economy and providing sustainable supplies.
