AD Ports Group has achieved tangible progress in its efforts to enhance environmental sustainability, with the 2025 Sustainability Report showing the Group's success in reducing carbon emission intensity by 6% per unit of revenue. This achievement comes at a time when the Group continued to expand its global operations, achieving a 20% growth in revenues to reach AED 20.77 billion during the same year.

Ambitious Decarbonization Strategy

The Group adopted a comprehensive strategy aimed at decoupling emissions growth from its business growth through the implementation of a series of technical and operational initiatives. These steps included improving operational efficiency, expanding the use of solar energy, adopting low-emission marine fuels, and integrating electric vessels into its fleet. Emission intensity dropped to 190.68 tonnes of CO2 equivalent per million dirhams of revenue, compared to 203.06 tonnes in 2024.

Sustainable Investments and Future Initiatives

AD Ports Group has set a roadmap extending to 2050, encompassing 139 initiatives aimed at supporting climate neutrality and aligning with the UAE's National Strategy. Investments directed toward these initiatives are expected to reach approximately USD 636 million over 25 years, aiming to achieve a cumulative reduction of up to 2.9 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent. The Group also supported its operations by purchasing over 47,000 megawatt-hours of renewable energy certificates.

Enhancing Operational Efficiency

Captain Saif Al Mheiri, CEO of Abu Dhabi Marine and Chief Sustainability and Risk Officer at AD Ports Group, emphasized that the Group has successfully established a clear path toward achieving climate neutrality, noting that linking sustainability goals to executive management compensation reflects a firm institutional commitment. He explained that integrating these goals into the core corporate strategy has enhanced the resilience of the Group's competitive operations.

On another front, 2025 witnessed the launch of qualitative projects, such as the use of liquefied natural gas-powered trucks, the development of alternative fuel bunkering infrastructure at Khalifa Port, and the improvement of waste recycling operations by a growth rate of 24% compared to the previous year. These steps reaffirm the Group's determination to continue expanding low-carbon solutions across all its sectors, ranging from maritime transport and logistics to ports and economic zones.
