Wall Street ended the trading session with a noticeable increase, supported by falling oil prices and a shift in investor focus toward traditional and industrial stocks at the expense of the technology and artificial intelligence sector. Major indices witnessed positive performance as markets assessed the impact of lower energy costs on inflation and corporate profits.
Performance of Major Indices and Falling Oil Prices
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 1.02 percent, while the S&P 500 index climbed by 0.29 percent, whereas the Nasdaq index stabilized near its previous levels, recording a slight change. The drop in oil prices contributed to curbing inflationary expectations and easing pressure on operating costs for many major companies, which boosted investor confidence in traditional assets.
Shift of Liquidity Toward Industrial and Defense Sectors
This climate was reflected in the trends of investors who redistributed their financial portfolios, moving away from artificial intelligence-related assets toward industrial, defense, and consumer sectors. Defense and industrial company stocks witnessed clear gains, while other companies achieved positive quarterly results and sales growth. Financial market experts pointed out that this shift reflects investors' desire to seek stable cash flows and balance sheet resilience amid changing market data.
Reflections of Calm on Debt and Economic Markets
The decline in energy markets coincided with a drop in the yield on 10-year US Treasury bonds to reach 5.11 percent. Observers believe that the continuation of these trends largely depends on upcoming economic data and global market fluctuations, in addition to data related to energy supplies and the cost of industrial production, which contributes to reshaping the investment map in the near term.
