Solar energy technologies are witnessing continuous developments aimed at enhancing energy conversion efficiency and increasing system productivity, especially in projects that face challenges related to limited space or harsh environmental conditions. In this context, modern technical solutions offered by global companies to meet the growing needs of the residential, commercial, and industrial sectors stand out.

Development of solar panel technologies and conversion efficiency

A recent technical presentation by engineer Ahmed Omar highlighted the development of the solar panel industry with a focus on All Back Contact technology, known as ABC, which contributes to increasing energy conversion efficiency. This technology relies on moving the connection lines from the front of the solar cell to its back side, allowing the front surface to be used for greater light absorption without being blocked by metal lines, enabling cell and panel efficiency to reach high levels.

The difference between high efficiency and high power

High-efficiency solutions differ from high-power solutions in the design of solar systems; the former focuses on producing a larger amount of electricity within the available spaces, which is beneficial for limited residential and commercial rooftops by increasing the installed capacity. In contrast, high-power solutions aim to provide panels with high nominal power to reduce the total number of panels and cables required in large projects, thereby helping to save space and mounting structures.

Facing operational challenges in the region

Solar systems in the Middle East and Africa face multiple environmental challenges, including high temperatures, shading, and dust accumulation. Technical data show the ability of panels designed with advanced technologies to resist shading and reduce the impact of hot spots, in addition to maintaining stable productivity levels and high durability against damage factors compared to traditional technologies, which positively reflects on the economic return of investment in renewable energy projects.
