Aydın Adnan Menderes University continues its earnest efforts to enhance energy efficiency in its various facilities, as part of the "Energy Efficiency in Public Buildings - 2" (KABEV-2) project. This project receives financial support from the World Bank and is implemented under the supervision of the General Directorate of Construction Works of the Turkish Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change.
The university held an evaluation meeting in the Senate Hall at the university's presidency on October 20, 2026, attended by a high-level delegation from the ministry, led by Head of Foreign Investments Department Yusuf Yazıcı, Acting Branch Manager Ercan Gültekin, in addition to Şafak Tayşين representing the project implementation company.
Developing Energy Consumption Strategies
Following the meeting, the President of Aydın Adnan Menderes University, Prof. Dr. Bülent Kent, received the ministry representatives to discuss the practical steps of the project and obtain precise details about the planned roadmap. The attendees emphasized the importance of this initiative in reducing energy waste and achieving the university's strategic goals in environmental sustainability, in alignment with international building efficiency standards.
The deliberations witnessed an extensive academic and administrative attendance, including the vice presidents, the secretary general, and a number of department heads and technical staff, who reviewed the proposed timeline for executing the work on the university campus. Work sites are scheduled to be formally handed over on October 22, 2026, for the necessary development and technical installation operations to begin immediately.
The project aims to modernize the infrastructure of university buildings to ensure optimal energy consumption, thereby enhancing the role of educational institutions in reducing their carbon footprint. This step comes as part of broader efforts adopted by the university to transition towards more sustainable energy systems, with a focus on reducing operational electricity and heating bills and providing a smart, energy-efficient educational environment in the long term.
