Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, the Prime Minister, confirmed that the circulating information regarding the state's announcement of a power load-shedding plan ranging from 6 to 8 hours daily is inaccurate. He explained that what has been circulated does not reflect reality, stressing the need for accuracy when reporting news.

Clarification regarding scenarios for dealing with energy prices

The Prime Minister pointed out that his previous speech during the Egypt Forum addressed reviewing a set of scenarios available to deal with the repercussions resulting from the global rise in energy prices. He stressed that presenting these scenarios aimed to clarify the alternatives available to the state to face this increase, and was not an official announcement of a decision to apply load-shedding procedures or reduce the quantities of consumed fuel.

Alternatives for facing rising energy costs

Madbouly explained that the scenarios reviewed within the framework of the national economic transformation program included several options; among them are passing the full increase in costs to citizens by raising prices, or having the state bear the cost difference for a specific period. The options also included committing to the financial allocations set in the general budget, which may result in purchasing smaller quantities of petroleum products that may reach 50% or 60% of the total required needs.

Call to verify circulating news

The Prime Minister criticized the spread of false information regarding long hours of power outages via social media platforms, calling on citizens to ensure the accuracy of news from its official sources, and stressing the importance of clarifying facts to public opinion to avoid confusion.
