MP Mohamed Zaki, Undersecretary of the Energy, Environment and Manpower Committee in the Senate, affirmed that the Egypt 2026 Forum represents a fundamental opportunity to establish an integrated vision supporting the national economy, by linking investment and production and providing job opportunities, which contributes to exploiting available potentials in various sectors to improve citizens' lives.
Turning visions into practical solutions
Zaki explained that the current phase requires transitioning from merely presenting economic visions to formulating practical, actionable solutions. He pointed out that the success of the economic dialogue is linked to the ability to set clear priorities and turn recommendations into concrete steps, thereby enhancing the Egyptian economy's ability to face regional and international challenges and stimulate investment.
Renewable energy and supporting competitiveness
The Undersecretary of the Energy and Environment Committee pointed out that expanding reliance on renewable energy sources is a vital path to achieving the state's targets, which aim to reach a 45% share of renewable energy by the end of 2028. He added that achieving this goal requires boosting investments in clean energy projects and developing the supporting infrastructure, which contributes to lowering production costs and improving the competitiveness of Egyptian industry.
Green economy and global markets
He indicated that adhering to international environmental standards and moving towards a green economy has become an economic necessity to keep pace with shifts in international trade. He stressed that producing and manufacturing eco-friendly products provides opportunities to increase Egyptian exports and enhances the presence of national products and their ability to compete in global markets.
Labor rehabilitation and the labor market
Zaki stressed the need to enhance integration between economic, environmental, and labor market policies, to ensure that investments are directed towards sectors capable of creating sustainable job opportunities for youth. He emphasized the importance of training and vocational rehabilitation to raise the efficiency of the Egyptian workforce in line with changing market needs, along with the necessity of creating a stable business environment and facilitating procedures to support small and medium-sized enterprises.
