Security authorities arrested two people on charges of stealing quantities of used cooking oil from behind a restaurant, in an incident handled by the police in the city of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, USA. Official data indicated that investigations are still ongoing to determine whether similar thefts may have occurred in other locations.
Details of the Arrest and Security Investigation
The police received a report early in the morning stating that tightly closed containers of used cooking oil behind a commercial establishment located on Windsor Street had been stolen. The suspects managed to leave the site in a white truck before security patrols were able to spot the matching vehicle near the intersection of the main streets and subject it to a quick traffic stop.
Confiscations Inside the Suspects' Truck
A thorough search of the truck revealed six large storage containers filled with used cooking oil, in addition to an electric generator and a hose system dedicated to fluid pumping operations. Security elements also found tools and equipment specifically used to force open the oil containers, as well as confirming that neither of the defendants had an official permit to collect this oil from the target restaurant.
The defendants were taken to the Dane County Jail, while authorities impounded the truck as physical evidence in the case. The Wisconsin State Patrol and the University of Wisconsin-Madison Police participated in the investigation and support operations, amid ongoing efforts to determine the circumstances of the incident and file additional charges if necessary.
