The Bibliotheca Alexandrina, represented by the Planetarium Science Center of the Cultural Outreach Sector, is preparing to launch the Environment Day celebration activities under the theme 'State of Emergency in the Mediterranean', with broad participation from schools and educational institutions. The event aims to enhance environmental awareness among primary and preparatory stage students and highlight the most prominent challenges facing the Mediterranean Sea and coastal cities, primarily the city of Alexandria.
Interactive activities and environmental workshops
This celebration comes within the framework of efforts to spread scientific and environmental culture among the youth and to encourage students to understand contemporary environmental issues through interactive experiments that link scientific knowledge to daily life. The activities include a variety of shows and workshops that address issues of soil conservation, renewable and non-renewable energy, and the dangers of unsafe waste disposal.
Climate issues and modern technology
The events highlight the phenomenon of global warming and its effects on the environment, in addition to discussing the hidden environmental cost of artificial intelligence and the impact of pollution on coastal cities. The activities also focus on clarifying the relationship between human activities and environmental changes, to help students realize the seriousness of practices that harm ecosystems and adopt more sustainable behaviors.
Puppet theater and closing events
The events will conclude with a black theater performance titled 'Trial in the Depths', which embodies the story of marine creatures suing humans for dumping plastic waste, highlighting the negative effects of pollution on marine life and the importance of reducing waste. The celebration will witness the participation of twenty schools and educational institutions from the Alexandria and Beheira governorates to instill the concepts of environmental responsibility among students.
