The Central Control Administration of the Supply Directorate in Giza launched intensive field campaigns aimed at regulating markets and the subsidy system, resulting in the seizure of thousands of liters of smuggled petroleum products and hundreds of irregular ration cards. These efforts aim to enhance oversight, ensure that subsidized goods reach those entitled to them, and preserve public funds in various areas of the governorate.
Seizure of Smuggled Diesel and Fuel Station Violations
The inspection campaigns included the petroleum products sector, where a transport vehicle loaded with approximately 7,000 liters of smuggled diesel was seized. The vehicle and the cargo were impounded to take necessary legal measures by the competent authorities. The inspection teams also detected a gas station manipulating diesel filling without the necessary official documents, in addition to deficiencies in records, which necessitated firm action against these violations.
Seizure of Ration Cards and Bakery Violations
In the bakery and subsidy sector, the campaigns resulted in the seizure of a total of 628 irregular smart ration cards. 398 cards were seized inside several bakeries in the Al-Ayyat and Al-Hawamdiya centers and districts. Additionally, in the Omraniya area, the campaign managed to seize 230 other ration cards hidden inside black bags while the bread dispensing machine was operating normally, and the concerned authorities took legal measures regarding those incidents.
Monitoring Violations of Underweight Bread and Subsidized Flour
The inspection teams continued to monitor the extent to which local bakeries adhere to the specifications and weight prescribed for a loaf of bread. Violations related to underweight bread and its production at a level not in compliance with specifications were detected, where dozens of underweight violations were recorded, in addition to finding sacks of subsidized flour exceeding the quantities recorded on the dispensing machines. The regulatory authorities confirmed the continuation of field campaigns periodically in response to citizens' complaints.
