Dr. Ahmed Kouchouk, Minister of Finance, confirmed that the El Dabaa nuclear power plant continues to operate with complete regularity without interruption or delay under various circumstances, pointing out that the energy produced from it will contribute to saving large financial amounts reaching about 4 billion dollars at current prices.
The Minister of Finance explained, during the Energy Journey session within the activities of the Egypt Forum, that the state is committed to regularity in paying the dues of foreign partners and securing the necessary needs to prevent power outages, in parallel with pumping investments into energy networks, explaining that these efforts aim to pave the way towards achieving significant financial savings during the coming years with the entry of new capacities into the national grid.
He added that the El Dabaa plant project aims to secure stable energy capacities, indicating that this production would have achieved a net financial savings ranging between two and a half billion dollars up to four billion dollars according to prevailing prices.
In a related context, he pointed to the success of government efforts in reducing debt ratios compared to previous years, drawing attention to the importance of financial support directed to the energy sector to ensure the stability of the system and secure the future of the infrastructure and network sector.
The government revealed new plans to convert part of the industrial sector to rely on solar energy in coordination with the relevant authorities, alongside preparing financial models that allow factories to pay costs from the value of the achieved savings, contributing to reducing the gas consumption bill and supporting water and irrigation projects.
