African MSGBC basin countries are preparing to enter a new phase of development in the energy sector, coinciding with the progress of major oil and gas projects toward production phases and the expansion of gas infrastructure, aiming to transform resource wealth into large-scale industrial growth.
The first day of the MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power Conference and Exhibition 2026 is scheduled to be held in the Senegalese capital, Dakar, with wide participation from policymakers, energy companies, investors, financial institutions, and technical partners from Mauritania, Senegal, The Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, and Guinea-Conakry.
High-Level Presidential and Ministerial Program
The first day sees the opening of the events with a presidential and ministerial program led by the President of Senegal, along with the participation of prominent representatives from the African Energy Chamber, the Gas Exporting Countries Forum, the African Petroleum Producers Organization, and major global companies, setting a policy and investment framework to discuss the basin's growing role in global energy markets.
Ministerial Dialogue and Regional Cooperation Enhancement
The agenda includes a ministerial dialogue bringing together energy sector leaders from participating countries to discuss ways to accelerate exploration and production work, and to develop the necessary infrastructure for liquefying and exploiting natural gas resources. Sessions will also discuss regional integration, cross-border cooperation, innovation, and storage to support energy security and achieve economic growth.
Investment Opportunities and Gas Project Financing
The events continue with a business leadership session to discuss the catalysts for investment in the region's gas sector and how markets compete to attract international capital. Discussions also focus on reviewing the future of oil and gas reserves, and projects nearing final investment decisions to secure necessary financing.
Gas as a Driver for Regional Transformation and Development
Natural gas occupies the forefront of discussions through sessions focusing on gas-to-power generation, development of regional gas markets, transport infrastructure, and support for fertilizer and petrochemical industries and industrial development, concluding the events with strategic partnerships, an awards ceremony, and professional networking among investors and industry leaders.
