A regulatory campaign launched by the Supply Directorate in Port Said Governorate revealed serious violations in the handling of petroleum products at a fuel station in the governorate, in response to reports and complaints submitted by a number of citizens regarding the quality of fuel available for sale.
Details of the Incident and Laboratory Analysis
The incident began after regulatory authorities received information indicating illegal practices inside the station, as the campaign suspected that the station operators were mixing 80 octane with 95 octane, which constitutes manipulation that harms the safety of car engines and a blatant violation of quality standards and supply requirements.
Consequently, the specialized committee took samples of the fuel present at the station and sent them to specialized laboratories to ensure the accuracy of the examination. Laboratory results confirmed that the samples did not comply with the required standard specifications, proving the validity of suspicions regarding illegal mixing operations aimed at illicit profiteering at the expense of consumers.
Regulatory Measures for Consumer Protection
This campaign comes as part of ongoing efforts by regulatory bodies in Port Said to monitor fuel stations and ensure their compliance with technical specifications and official prices, within the framework of the state's keenness to control markets and ensure the delivery of petroleum products to citizens according to approved standards.
Regulatory authorities stress that they will take the necessary legal measures against establishments involved in such violations, to ensure the protection of citizens' rights and preserve the safety of vehicles, while intensifying surprise inspection operations at stations throughout the governorate to ensure compliance with all supply instructions.
