US Energy Secretary Chris Wright confirmed that Russian diesel fuel shipments will effectively contribute to lowering prices within the United States and at the global market level, pointing out that this step will bring positive benefits to American consumers and various countries around the world.

The US Energy Secretary explained in press statements that global markets are currently suffering from a shortage in diesel supplies, pointing to the ongoing US administration's quest to find ways to reduce financial burdens on citizens. He added that Russia making available additional quantities of diesel and exporting them to the markets represents a supportive step for consumers and global markets alike.

Details of the Diesel Supply Agreement

These developments came against the background of an agreement reached following a phone call that brought together US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. The supply arrangements included plans to send shipments starting with more than three hundred thousand tons in the first stage, followed by five hundred thousand tons during the month of November, with subsequent plans to increase the quantities according to the condition of Russian refineries.

In the same context, the US Treasury Department issued a general license allowing transactions related to Russian diesel until early April 2027. On the other hand, the Russian government lifted the export ban partially for the initial withdrawals. The news of this agreement was directly reflected in the financial markets, as US diesel fuel futures contracts recorded a decline of nearly five percent following the official announcement.
