Authorities in the energy sector of the Indian state of Rajasthan are seeking to boost demand for compressed natural gas and domestic connections by launching new and innovative incentive campaigns aimed at attracting consumers and easing the obstacles hindering the spread of this eco-friendly service compared to traditional alternatives.

Financial incentives and reward points for new subscribers

As part of efforts to increase the subscriber base, Rajasthan State Gas Limited, a government joint venture, announced the launch of an attractive offer package including granting new subscribers up to 5,000 reward points, equivalent to a specific monetary value of free natural gas, for subscribers who join the network within the campaign's specified timeframe. This step aims to address challenges related to weak public demand for the transition, which is partly due to conditions concerning grace periods and previous regulatory procedures.

Focusing on the commercial and institutional sector

The new campaign pays special attention to commercial establishments such as hotels, restaurants, guesthouses, hostels, and youth hostels, where facilities and priority have been approved for these sectors to benefit from the natural gas network. This strategy aims to expand reliance on safe and sustainable energy sources in commercial activities with frequent consumption.

Strategic goals and expansions until 2031

These efforts come in coordination with federal regulatory directives and within the mandatory operating environment program, as ambitious plans have been set to cover all geographical areas in the state with natural gas networks to reach millions of residential units by 2031. Despite achieving significant numbers of connections so far, the concerned authorities aim to accelerate the pace of transition to reduce reliance on traditional cylinders and provide a safe and continuous 24/7 energy alternative for urban communities.
