Prices for domestic and commercial gas cylinders have varied across different cities, amid anticipation from consumers and business owners regarding the monthly energy cost, which forms a fundamental part of household budgets and operational expenses for commercial activities. Companies operating in the energy sector continue to review liquefied petroleum gas prices regularly based on international market data, transport costs, and local taxes.
Stability of Domestic Gas Prices
Standard-sized domestic gas cylinder prices have maintained relative stability during the current period without recording new increases. The price of a 14.2-kilogram cylinder in the capital, Delhi, is about 942 rupees, while prices vary in other cities due to differences in transport costs and local taxes. In Mumbai, the price is about 941.50 rupees, in Kolkata it reaches 968 rupees, while the cost in Chennai is about 957.50 rupees. Prices in other areas such as Noida reach 939.50 rupees, Gurugram 950.50 rupees, Lucknow 979.50 rupees, Jaipur 945.50 rupees, and Hyderabad 994 rupees. Patna is considered one of the cities with the highest recorded domestic cylinder price at 1031.50 rupees.
Rise in Commercial Cylinder Prices
In contrast, 19-kilogram commercial gas cylinders saw upward price adjustments at the beginning of the current month. The cost in Delhi increased by 62.50 rupees to reach 2810 rupees. Commercial prices vary between cities, as they are recorded at about 2764.50 rupees in Mumbai, 2954 rupees in Kolkata, 2983 rupees in Chennai, 2898 rupees in Bangalore, while they rise in Patna to reach 3100.50 rupees.
Liquefied petroleum gas prices are subject to periodic reviews conducted by oil companies at the beginning of each month, where domestic and commercial prices are determined separately. These prices are influenced by several key factors, including the cost of importing gas in global markets, foreign exchange rates against the local currency, as well as transport expenses and regional taxes, which has directly reflected on the spending plans of households and the budgets of companies and service institutions.
