Gold prices have seen a noticeable rise in global markets, influenced by the decline in oil prices, while investors focus on analyzing and assessing the potential directions of the US Federal Reserve regarding interest rates in the coming period, seeking clear signals about the path of monetary policy.

The yellow metal recorded gains in both spot transactions and futures contracts, amidst a state of caution dominating global financial markets in anticipation of upcoming economic decisions.

Declining oil prices and global inflationary pressures

Oil prices have faced downward pressure linked to regulatory data that could lead to increased fuel supplies in international markets. In parallel, data revealed an increase in import costs in the United States during September, driven by higher prices for energy products and various commodities, which is an additional indicator of persistent inflationary challenges amid the tense situation in the Middle East.

Anticipation of monetary policy meetings and interest rates

Investors and market traders are looking toward the upcoming meetings of the Federal Open Market Committee and personal consumption data, which the central bank uses to measure targeted inflation rates. Expectations indicate varying probabilities for interest rate hikes in the near and long term. Although gold is a safe haven and a traditional tool for hedging against inflation, the high-interest-rate environment usually puts pressure on the attractiveness of non-yielding assets. Regarding other precious metals, silver, platinum, and palladium have seen relative increases, reflecting the diversity of investment activity in commodity markets.
