Universities and higher institutes in the energy sector are moving to update their educational programs and curricula to suit the requirements of the green and digital transition. In light of the rapid changes taking place in the energy industry, educational institutions are seeking to bridge the gap in qualified human resources, by focusing on applied research and modern technologies to meet the renewable operational needs in the oil, gas, and renewable energy sectors.

Developing Marine Engineering and Renewable Energy Programs

Universities are working to develop master's programs in marine engineering, to link advanced knowledge with practical applications and field research that support production processes and offshore structures. The development focuses on integrating renewable energy concepts such as offshore wind farms, floating wind systems, wind turbine technology, and electrical infrastructure. Artificial intelligence, data analysis, and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies are also being integrated to support monitoring, asset management, accident prediction, and operational efficiency improvement.

Centers of Excellence and Practical Training on Clean Energy

Various academic institutions are seeking to update their training plans to include areas of renewable energy, smart grids, energy storage, and efficient energy use. Efforts include establishing specialized centers of excellence for wind energy training in cooperation with international partners, to provide practical training opportunities that include designing wind energy projects, operating and maintaining them, energy transmission, electrical interconnection grids, as well as occupational safety standards.

Bridging the Gap between Education and Labor Market Requirements

These academic shifts emphasize the importance of linking academic education to the actual needs of the labor market in the modern energy sector. Efforts are not limited to providing theoretical knowledge only, but extend to developing practical application skills and the ability to innovate and solve complex problems. This contributes to preparing a generation of engineers and technicians capable of managing complex technical systems and leading the transition towards a sustainable and clean energy future.
