The cryptocurrency Bitcoin rose to the $82,700 level, driven by declining global oil prices and a noticeable recovery in investor risk appetite in financial markets. The currency saw growth of 2.3 percent at the start of trading, as markets closely monitor the effects of major economic changes on both digital and traditional assets.

Decline in oil prices boosts risk appetite

This rise in cryptocurrency markets coincided with a drop in crude oil prices, as Brent contracts fell by nearly 2 percent to trade around the $107 per barrel level. This decline is attributed to reports of stable oil supplies coming from the Middle East, which helped lower prices that had previously reached high levels. This decline in energy markets reflected positively on global investor sentiment and supported major indices such as the S&P 500, which rose by 0.8 percent, and the Nasdaq 100, which rose by 1.3 percent.

Gains in the cryptocurrency market extended to include other digital assets alongside Bitcoin; Ethereum recorded gains of up to 3.7 percent, while the increase in Solana exceeded 4.5 percent, benefiting from the general recovery and improved temporary liquidity in Asian and global markets.

Institutional concerns and outflows from ETFs

Despite the price gains recorded by Bitcoin and its arrival at a range between $80,000 and $85,000, the continued caution of investment institutions raises questions about the sustainability of this rise. Financial data indicates that spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in the United States recorded negative cash flows, with the volume of outflows reaching about $228.6 million during the last week alone.

Adding the outflows from the previous week, which amounted to about $681 million, the total net outflows from these institutional funds reach about $909.6 million in just two weeks. These figures confirm the continued caution among large investors, especially with the presence of previous selling pressures associated with the technology sector and economic developments, which kept Bitcoin within its current sideways range without breaking the upper record levels.
