The parent company of the German Enerparc group, one of Europe's leading solar power plant developers, has filed for bankruptcy proceedings before a court in the city of Hamburg. This development comes just about six months after the company announced the close of a massive financing package worth up to one billion euros to expand its operations and accelerate its growth in the solar energy and battery storage sectors.

The German court appointed a temporary trustee to assess the group's financial situation and find ways to ensure the continuation of its operational activities during the judicial proceedings period. The company employs about 700 people and has participated in the development of about 1,000 photovoltaic plants, while the German system guarantees employees' salaries for three months through the insolvent companies' wage guarantee scheme.

Details of the Distressed Financing Package

The financial package announced by the company combined a large loan and a financing framework for new projects worth hundreds of millions of euros, subject to increase. This funding came after a year in which the company added about 1.2 gigawatts of solar capacity and raised its total portfolio to about 5 gigawatts of operational and developed plants, highlighting the rapid shift in the company's financial position.

Impact of Bankruptcy on Subsidiaries

The initial bankruptcy decision does not automatically extend to all subsidiaries or entities associated with specific projects, despite the extension of financial difficulties to some parties within the group's business environment. The sister company PV-Werk, specialized in building large photovoltaic plants and battery systems, has initiated restructuring proceedings under self-administration and judicial supervision.

The sister company includes dozens of employees and about one hundred projects under construction in various stages, and aims to complete as many of them as possible during the phase of determining its future. Since its establishment, it has participated in the building of hundreds of solar parks with a total capacity exceeding several gigawatts, reflecting the relative weight of the activity within the group's structure.

In contrast, Sonnedix Lighthouse — *Wait, Arabic text says سونيك ليتهاوس (Sonic Lighthouse)* — Sonnedix Lighthouse, the arm responsible for selling electricity generated from the group's plants and third-party facilities with a massive portfolio, confirmed that its financial position is completely independent and it continues its operations with customers and producers normally to ensure the continued flow of electricity to the markets while final decisions regarding asset restructuring are clarified.
