Global oil prices registered a noticeable decline in recent trading, driven by the US administration's decision to ease some sanctions imposed on Russia, which led to a shift in market expectations regarding the volume of crude supply in international markets. Brent crude futures fell by 2.6% to reach $106.97 a barrel, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures dropped by 2.0% to settle at $99.36 a barrel. This decline comes after a wave of increases witnessed by oil prices during the previous week as a result of concerns regarding supply disruptions, especially in the Middle East region.

Energy Markets Affected by Easing US Sanctions

US President Donald Trump announced the signing of an executive order suspending some sanctions imposed on Russia before they take effect, and the administration also granted tariff exemptions to some countries importing Russian oil. Trump pointed out that keeping Russia within the negotiation circle comes as part of efforts to end the war in Ukraine. In the same context, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio explained that the administration may need up to 60 days to fully assess the economic consequences of these exemptions, leaving markets in a state of anticipation for further developments related to energy supplies.

Global Stocks Performance and Chinese Economic Prospects

On the other hand, US stock markets showed positive indicators, as futures for the "Dow Jones", "Standard & Poor's", and "Nasdaq" indices recorded increases at varying rates, following a negative session at the end of last week affected by investor concerns regarding the financing of artificial intelligence projects. In Asia, the Chinese economy showed an acceleration in growth rates during the third quarter of 2026, as gross domestic product grew by 4.5% annually, exceeding analysts' expectations, which was boosted by increased demand for semiconductors and products related to artificial intelligence.

Markets Focus on Tech Companies' Earnings

Investors' eyes turn this week to the quarterly earnings results of giant technology companies such as "Meta" and "Tesla", as the market seeks to evaluate the volume of capital spending and commercial development plans for these companies in the artificial intelligence sector. These expectations come at a time when the Chinese company "ChangXin Memory Technologies" (CXMT) announced expectations of a significant increase in its revenues, despite the fluctuations witnessed by the company's stocks, which reflects the general state of tension mixed with optimism in the global technology sector at the beginning of the week.
