Turkey plans to raise its oil production levels through its national oil and gas company to reach 550,000 barrels per day by 2028, with future aspirations to reach production of one million barrels per day.
Increased production and reserves
Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, explained that the national company succeeded in doubling its production to about 300,000 barrels, as a result of exploration operations for new fields over the past five years. Ankara intends to continue exploring for new gas and oil fields in the Black Sea, in addition to geological exploration operations inside and outside the country.
Expansions in the Black Sea and Southeast Turkey
The minister pointed to the state's efforts to increase confirmed gas reserves in the Sakarya field in the Black Sea, while continuing drilling operations in other areas in the Black Sea and the southeastern region of Turkey in search of new natural gas and oil deposits. This coincided with the launch of the floating platform Osman Gazi to its work site in the Sakarya gas field in the Black Sea.
Turkish energy fleet
Turkey currently owns an energy fleet that ranks fourth globally, as it includes 6 deep-water drilling ships, two seismic survey ships, in addition to support vessels dedicated to maritime operations.
