US President Donald Trump confirmed that the ongoing conflict with Iran is nearing its end soon, noting that global oil prices will witness a sharp and noticeable decline immediately after the operations conclude. The President made these remarks during a meeting at the White House, where he addressed questions and grievances from voters regarding high fuel costs, rising energy prices, and their direct impact on the domestic and global economy and markets ahead of the upcoming elections.
Expected drop in crude oil prices
Trump explained that oil prices will fall quickly and sharply as soon as the conflict with Iran ceases, considering the current rise in energy costs to be a small and temporary price that must be paid to ensure Tehran does not possess nuclear weapons in the foreseeable future. He stressed that the US administration seeks to ensure that Iran is unable to develop or possess nuclear capabilities in the coming years, emphasizing that achieving this goal requires specific conditions and ongoing commitment, and that market stability is closely linked to these political and security developments.
Impact of conflicts and tensions on global energy supplies
Oil prices are closely linked to fuel costs and their direct impact on consumer inflation rates, transportation expenses, and various economic activities. Market indicators confirm that any potential tensions or conflicts in the Middle East could lead to widespread disruptions in global energy supplies, which reflects in strong upward pressure on prices on exchanges. Conversely, the end of conflicts and the waning of geopolitical risks contribute significantly to alleviating pressures on global markets, although prices remain governed by supply and demand balances and global production levels.
