Organizers of the famous Le Mans endurance race are offering fans a unique opportunity to participate in environmental efforts by making optional contributions when purchasing tickets to support local and global climate and renewable energy projects.
This step comes as part of a program aimed at measuring the race's carbon footprint, taking practical steps to reduce environmental impacts, and supporting climate initiatives to offset remaining emissions. Previous periods witnessed the allocation of a portion of ticket revenues to afforestation projects and the expansion of green spaces, alongside supporting wind energy projects.
Mechanism of Optional Contribution for Fans
With the official opening of ticket booking, every fan will be able to add an optional financial contribution to their shopping cart to support new environmental projects, particularly in the areas surrounding the event venue. These efforts coincide with ongoing endeavors to reduce emissions resulting from the sporting event in general, as public participation remains entirely optional to promote environmental awareness.
Locally and Globally Supported Climate Projects
The club's support includes multiple projects for reafforestation and restoring vegetation cover in areas damaged by fires or natural factors, alongside supporting wind energy projects in South America to generate clean electricity and connect it to the public grid. These initiatives contribute to offsetting carbon emissions, supporting biodiversity, and providing new habitats for wildlife.
Sustainability and Emission Reduction Strategy
The environmental sustainability strategy relies on three main axes, including accurately measuring the carbon footprint, reducing emissions by targeted percentages compared to previous years, and contributing to the financing of carbon offset projects. The event also relies on using fully renewable fuel to power competing cars, as part of a comprehensive plan to achieve environmental balance and social responsibility.
