A specialized workshop addressing the future of the carbon economy and sustainable energy policies in light of the green consensus path concluded in the Turkish province of Uşak, with the participation of an elite group of academics, researchers, and experts from various universities and scientific institutions in the country.
Extended Discussions on Renewable Energy Sources
The sessions of the event, organized by the Turkish Academy of Sciences and lasting for two days, focused on ways to develop energy storage technologies derived from renewable sources and how to integrate them efficiently into national electricity grids. Participants reviewed the latest innovations in the fields of storage systems, smart grids, and distributed energy sources, alongside discussing the potential of offshore wind energy and its future role in diversifying electricity generation sources.
Industrial Applications and Hydrogen Technologies
Experts touched upon during the sessions the importance of solar-powered thermal energy storage systems in the construction and industry sectors, as well as the role of low-temperature thermochemical cycles in enhancing the hydrogen economy. Attendees discussed green hydrogen strategies and the opportunities provided by nuclear energy to achieve sustainability goals, in addition to green transition pathways in the construction and real estate sector.
Sustainable Finance and Artificial Intelligence
The concluding sessions addressed the dimensions of energy transition financing, highlighting green taxonomy standards, the preparation of environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) sustainability reports, and climate finance mechanisms. Participants also discussed the role of artificial intelligence technologies in supporting the energy sector and achieving sustainable development, and reviewed future scenarios for reducing carbon emissions in line with the 2053 net-zero target, while emphasizing the importance of enhancing international and academic cooperation in this field.
