The Iraqi Drilling Company is working to expand its operations in the oil sector by conducting intensive discussions with several regional and international companies specializing in energy and drilling services, with the aim of developing its technical and operational capabilities and strengthening its presence in oil well drilling and reclamation projects.
Anticipated cooperation with Halliburton and Schlumberger
Recent moves included discussions with the American company Halliburton to explore the possibility of concluding a partnership agreement covering oil well drilling and reclamation operations and providing associated services, in addition to submitting joint bids for oil projects. Efforts with Schlumberger (SLB) also focused on accelerating contractual procedures to provide associated oil services for the drilling of 7 wells in the Garraf oil field.
Discussions with Omani and Azerbaijani companies
As part of diversifying partnerships, the Assistant Director General for Drilling and Reclamation Affairs, Engineer Mohanad Makki Taresh, held a meeting with representatives of the Omani Abraj Energy Services company to discuss cooperation opportunities in well drilling, maintenance work, and associated services. The Director General of the Iraqi Drilling Company also received representatives of the Azerbaijani company SOCAR AQS to discuss partnership opportunities, expand areas of technical cooperation, and determine joint work priorities.
Strategic expansion goals
Through these contacts, the Iraqi Drilling Company seeks to benefit from specialized international expertise to support its activities in oil fields, and to develop coordination mechanisms and exchange expertise with international partners, which contributes to improving the efficiency of oil project implementation and increasing its ability to meet work requirements in the sector.
