Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, confirmed that the Egyptian state continues to bear the largest portion of the actual cost of providing energy services to citizens, emphasizing the government's commitment to securing the country's needs and ensuring the continuity of providing essential services efficiently.
Securing Resources and Meeting Energy Needs
The Prime Minister explained, during his participation in the Egypt 2026 Forum during a session titled "The Egyptian Energy Journey.. National Achievements and Future Horizons," that the government is following an ongoing strategy to study and provide the necessary financial resources to meet the state's requirements, whether through local currency or foreign currencies, to face the current economic challenges.
Madbouly pointed out that calculating the true cost of energy clearly reveals the volume of huge financial burdens borne by the state compared to what the citizen pays, noting that the government places at the top of its priorities ensuring the continuity of energy supplies and providing fuel and electricity to various sectors and citizens alike, which supports the stability of markets, production processes, and daily activities.
Facing Global Economic Variables
The Prime Minister stressed that the exceptional circumstances the world is going through require the state to deal with extreme precision and responsibility with all economic variables, confirming that the state will continue to bear the largest portion of fuel and electricity burdens during the near future.
He also confirmed that the trend towards clarifying these facts to public opinion comes within the framework of enhancing transparency and informing citizens of the volume of efforts and resources exerted to secure the energy sector, especially in light of the continuous pursuit to avoid any power outages and ensure the availability of fuel in all its forms.
