Securing energy needs and financing challenges
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi emphasized that securing the state's energy needs remains linked to fundamental challenges, foremost among them determining the amount of funding required and the sources for procuring it. He explained that implementing energy projects requires huge financial resources to cover construction and operational costs, in addition to developing the basic infrastructure that ensures the sustainability of supplies.
The state's plan to face the energy crisis
The President pointed out that since 2014, the state has developed a comprehensive strategic plan to face the energy crises that the country witnessed in 2012 and 2013. The plan included an economic path aimed at containing the repercussions of resource shortages, with a focus on building an integrated infrastructure system.
Developing networks and production capabilities
Sisi stressed that the state's strategy is not limited to building new power generation plants, but extends to include extensive development operations for networks and qualifying them to be able to absorb increases in produced capacities. He explained that this development is a fundamental pillar for meeting the needs of development and new national projects, in parallel with global challenges related to energy prices and their potential impacts on the electricity sector and consumers.
