Amid the continuous rise in energy and gas prices, many are looking for effective ways to reduce expenses associated with heating homes during the winter season, amid expectations of increased bills compared to previous years according to estimates by relevant energy regulatory bodies.
Expectations indicate that the rise in natural gas prices and energy products will directly affect family budgets, making it an urgent necessity to search for practical solutions to reduce consumption. Official bodies and institutions specialized in energy affairs confirm that rationalizing consumption begins with basic steps related to home heating efficiency.
The importance of thermal insulation for homes
Experts agree that thermal insulation is the ideal and most effective solution to reduce energy consumption and limit thermal leaks. This includes installing double-glazed windows, properly insulating curtain boxes, and sealing gaps and cracks that may leak cold air into the house. There are also simple and inexpensive solutions such as using weatherstripping on doors and windows, as well as using heavy curtains and draft stoppers to maintain indoor warmth.
Adjusting temperatures for maximum savings
Alongside insulation, managing heating consumption plays a crucial role in lowering bills. Relevant authorities recommend setting the thermostat and heating thermostat to certain levels, such as 19°C in living rooms while individuals are present, and lowering it to about 16 or 17°C when rooms are empty or during the night in bedrooms. It is also recommended to use a programmable thermostat to adapt operating times with the residents' presence schedules, as well as periodic maintenance of heating systems to ensure their maximum efficiency.
