Authorities in the city of New Brunswick have launched intensive investigations following a break-in and attempted arson incident at a residential home near Easton Avenue. The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning, specifically between 1:40 AM and 2:15 AM, when residents discovered signs of forced entry and vandalism of personal property upon returning home.

According to initial information, the incident was not limited to burglary alone, but included highly dangerous acts involving tampering with natural gas sources inside the dwelling, which raised authorities' concerns of a deliberate attempt to cause a fire or explosion. Fortunately, the residents did not encounter anyone during the incident, and no one suffered any physical harm, as the incident took place in their absence.

Security teams from Rutgers University are participating in the investigations, given the residents' affiliation with the university, in coordination with the New Brunswick Police Department. Security agencies continue to gather evidence and search for any leads that might lead to the identity of those involved, as no descriptions of the suspect or specific motives behind this crime have been disclosed so far.

Security authorities call on citizens and anyone who may possess information or noticed any suspicious movement in the area during that time period to urgently contact the city's Criminal Investigation Bureau at 732-745-5217, emphasizing the importance of public cooperation in such sensitive issues related to the safety of lives and property. This incident highlights the importance of security vigilance and securing vital home facilities against deliberate tampering.
