President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi participated in an extensive panel discussion titled 'The Egyptian Energy Journey.. National Achievements and Future Prospects', as part of the events of the fourth day of the Egypt 2026 Forum. The session included a comprehensive review of the Egyptian state's efforts to address the challenges facing the energy sector, in addition to strategic plans to develop infrastructure and enhance frameworks of cooperation with foreign partners and the private sector.

Energy Sector Challenges and Clarifying Facts

President El-Sisi stressed the need to clarify facts related to the energy sector to citizens, emphasizing the importance of raising public awareness of the repercussions of energy fluctuations and prices in global markets. He pointed out that the state has developed comprehensive plans since 2014 to face the energy crises the country went through in the period between 2012 and 2013, explaining that providing the necessary funding volume and its sources is one of the most prominent challenges the state has faced in this file.

Infrastructure and Renewable Energy

The discussions reviewed the state's plans aimed at establishing an integrated infrastructure based on diversifying energy sources, including new and renewable sources. The president explained that establishing power generation plants, whether relying on fossil fuels or those using renewable technologies, requires the availability of multiple logistical and technical capabilities and elements, noting that the state bears the bulk of the true cost of providing energy to citizens, especially in light of the continuous global rise in prices.

Financial Commitments and Cooperation with Partners

The presentation addressed the state's vision regarding global auctions, as he explained that auctions on the highest prices in the energy field may take a period ranging between five to seven years until their tangible results appear. He also pointed out that limited resources may sometimes force the state to borrow to ensure the continuity of energy services for industrial and residential sectors. In a related context, the president affirmed the state's keenness to pay the dues of foreign partners, while aiming to zero out these dues by June 2026, stressing at the same time the importance of the solidarity of the Egyptian people and continuing work and production to overcome all economic challenges.
