The activities of the fourth day of the Egypt 2026 Forum, during a session titled "The Egyptian Energy Journey.. National Achievements and Future Horizons," witnessed a conversation characterized by transparency between President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Engineer Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources. This situation occurred during an extensive discussion regarding the strategic challenges facing the energy sector in Egypt and the mechanisms followed to deal with them.

Energy sector challenges and future horizons

During the session, journalist Kamal Madi requested an intervention from the Ministers of Electricity and Petroleum to review the government's vision regarding the energy provision file and fuel costs. In this context, President Sisi addressed Engineer Karim Badawi, saying: "Take what you want, but tell the truth, Karim," in reference to the necessity of confronting public opinion with facts and realities related to the challenges the energy sector is going through, and what is associated with that in terms of production costs and necessary needs for the electricity and petroleum sectors.

Transparency in managing economic files

These statements come within the framework of the state's orientation towards enhancing transparency in managing economic crises, especially regarding the petroleum and electricity sectors, which are considered the nerve center of development in Egypt. The Egyptian government faces structural challenges related to achieving a balance between providing the fuel supplies necessary to operate power plants and meeting the needs of industrial and domestic sectors, and the economic pressures related to global price fluctuations and their direct impact on import costs and local production.

This position reflects the political leadership's keenness to inform citizens about the reality of economic challenges clearly, while emphasizing the importance of taking responsible decisions that guarantee the sustainability of basic services and reduce burdens. The Egyptian petroleum sector continues its efforts to increase production rates and develop energy infrastructure to ensure national energy security in the long term, in light of the rapid variables witnessed by the Egyptian economy and the trend towards maximizing the benefit from local natural resources to meet growing demand.
